Billboard Music Awards 2013: Full Winners List

Taylor-Swift-Billboard Music Awards 2013

I am sure that the performances were electrifying and the speeches controversial – Justin Bieber got booed according to pap sites I read! The Billboard Music Awards this year is definitely one for the books. I wonder if they will ever consider replacing their trophy icon with an excellent electric guitar….

7 Greatest Party Songs of All Time

When it comes to party tunes, there are some that simply rise above the rest. From classic to contemporary, here are 7 of the greatest party songs of all time.

Ice Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice

A soon as the intro starts, you’ll see toes tapping and heads nodding around the room, until suddenly everyone is on the floor and dancing to this iconic 90’s hit. The classic bass line from Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie makes this song recognisable across generations.

Thrift Shop – Macklemore and Ryan Lewis

This catchy tune came in at the coveted number one spot on Triple J’s annual Hottest 100 List for 2013, making it a must-play track for parties. The funky feel and tongue in cheek lyrics are a great addition to your party playlist.

U Can’t Touch This – MC Hammer

Here’s another classic 90’s hit. Every party simply has to have this song played at some point, even if it’s just to see everyone doing their version of the infamous MC Hammer dance. Fortunately, parachute pants are entirely optional.

Party Rock Anthem – LMFAO

Loud rockers LMFAO have nailed it when it comes to targeting the party song market. With a combination of heavy bass, driving melody line and a totally crazy dance to accompany it, this song is bound to see a serious shuffling competition break out on the dance floor.

Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana

While it might take a little while to gear up, the chorus of this famous Nirvana track will get everyone out of their seats and head banging. With the combination of grungy guitars, hard-hitting drums and Kurt Cobain’s unique voice yelling the classic line of ‘here we are now, entertain us!’ this song is sure to please the rock fans of the party.

Celebration – Kool & the Gang

This 80’s hit tirelessly makes it onto the party playlist for almost every event due to its inherently catchy nature and the guarantee that everyone will get up and sing along. As an international number one hit with plenty of current airplay, this song will continue to be heard at parties for many years to come.

Gangnam Style – Psy

While some people are thoroughly over Psy and his upbeat pop hit, this song has become one of the most watched clips on YouTube and is guaranteed to get a few people up and grooving. The Gangnam Style dance is currently battling with the Harlem Shake for the title of weirdest yet most catchy set of moves to ever hit the internet.

Now that you’ve got the playlist sorted, don’t forget to get your invitations out nice and early so you aren’t dancing up a storm all by yourself. With the convenience of designing your own invitations online, you can easily create your playlist while getting your invitations organised all at the same time. Make your party one to remember with the greatest party playlist of all time.

Flashback 90s: The Age of Boy Bands (Backstreet Boy vs N Sync)

boyband

Back to the days when dj speakers and going to “discos” were cool, there were also the boy bands. One Direction didn’t exist back then. Though I never got to fully enjoy New Kids on the Block (NKOTB) (They disbanded before I was a teenager), I got to fully enjoy (and gush and be a fangirl) of Backstreet Boys and N’ Sync.

Truth be told, I was more a fan of BSB than N’ Sync. I only got to like N Sync when I saw their MTVs. Musicality-wise, I think BSB has better singers but N’ Sync has younger, better-looking and great dance routines. N’ Sync is a visual feast while BSB is for your tunes – the kind you really listen to even when you’re alone.

Yep, fangirl moment here :)
