Glee Season 4 Episode 4: The Break-Up

Who didn’t cry during this episode?
You are NOT normal :P

Don’t Speak was a good one – it was heartwrenching and bittersweet.

My most favorite quotes are during the last two scenes (and my most favorite song was the LAST song).

Rachel: [to Finn] This place is kind of like our Jerusalem. All roads seem to just lead us back here.
Finn: I just needed time to think.
Rachel: You had four months. I hated you for what you did to me at that train station.
Finn: I was trying to help you.
Rachel: I hated you. And then when I got to New York, I thought how much you love me. And how hard that must have been for you. And I thought this…this is what a man looks like. This is how a man loves. But you, not telling me where you were for four months, and sneaking out before sunrise in the middle of the night without saying goodbye, that is not being a man, Finn.
Finn: I was trying to give you your freedom.
Rachel: I don’t need you to give me my freedom. I am a grown woman. I don’t need you to hide from me to keep me from doing what is right for me.

Finn: Who am I? I barely even graduated high school and my life has absolutely no direction.
Rachel: Don’t you get it? No matter how rich, or famous, or successful I become, when it comes to you, I’m always going to be that moon-eyed girl who freaked you out at a first glee rehearsal. You are the first boy who made me feel loved, and sexy, and visible. You are my first love. And I want more than anything for you to be my last. But I can’t do this anymore. At least not now. We’re done.

Finn: Wow. What am I going to do with my life? I don’t have my girl. I don’t have a job. I don’t have a place in this world.
Rachel: You have you, and that’s better than anyone else on the planet as far as I’m concerned.

And then Coldplay’s The Scientist plays:

Finn came to New York, not bearing a gift for dance recital, but to “reunite” with Rachel, only ending up in a break-up. I am so sympathetic towards Finn’s flight I am looking forward to seeing how the story plays out for him. Other than Finchel, I am pretty much just want scoop on Tina and Mike!

Break-up Song List:
Rachel, Finn, Kurt & Blaine – “Don’t Speak”
Santana – “Mine”
Rachel & Brody – “Give Your Heart a Break”
Blaine & Finn – “Barely Breathing”
Finn, Blaine, Santana, Kurt, Brittany, Will, Emma & Rachel – “The Scientist”
Blaine – “Teenage Dream” (Acoustic)

Get ALL the songs – these are the best so far this season!

Glee Britney 2.0

Totally love how the Glee writers + music people can make a cohesive show, episode by episode. While this episode is nowhere near “epic”, I like how the Britney 2.0 tribute somehow included Britney’s dark past without insulting her. The show made sure to highlight how she came back from her failures and it was fun seeing Brittany morph into dark-age Britney.

They spoofed the VMA 2007 performance and it kinda is freaky to see how Britney was before:

This made me realize how she has some great songs though. I grew up with Britney (she was like our generation’s Madonna) and I really hope she continues to move up the ladder.

And here is the soundtrack:
Britney 2.0 (iTunes Version)
01 3 (Glee Cast Version)
02 Boys / Boyfriend (Glee Cast Version)
03 Gimme More (Glee Cast Version)
04 Hold It Against Me (Glee Cast Version)
05 Womanizer (Glee Cast Version)
06 Everytime (Glee Cast Version)
07 Oops!… I Did It Again (Glee Cast Version)

And Marley DOES it again – my most favorite track was sung by her (totally apt to have it as finale song too!)

08 Crazy / ‘U Drive Me Crazy (Glee Cast Version)

Glee Season 4 Premiere

It’s the Gleek in me totally spazzing out because of this last week’s season premiere of Glee! I was a bit antsy on how it will play out without the old cast, some of whom were my absolute favorites. But they managed to pull it through with flying colors. The story was seamless, and even the NYC and LA set shoots were equally balanced.

And I am so loving the new characters, especially Marley Rose (Melissa Bentoist). I love her voice too. Rachel Berry’s acting has been stellar, not to mention her latest teacher Cassandra July (love, love Kate Hudson!). Kurt is promising and I wonder what Blaine will do without Kurt in McKinley.

And what is Glee without the songs anyway?
“Call Me Maybe”
“Americano” / “Dance Again”
“Never Say Never”
“New York State of Mind”
“It’s Time”
“Chasing Pavements”

My favorite song from the episode:

Can’t wait for this week’s episode! They are doing another tribute for Britney Spears!

Glee Christmas Album Volume 2 (2011)

Which is on constant repeat these days?

Glee’s second Christmas album of course!

Glee Christmas Album Volume 2

It’s just easier to get into the holiday mood listening to music like these than donning bogner ski wear and sipping hot chocolate.

I also like the tracks better this year – though I feel nothing has come at par with my favorite Klaine duet of “Baby It’s Cold Outside”. Nevertheless, I love ALL the tracks. Damian’s Blue Christmas is a revelation!

1. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” Featuring Amber Riley (Mercedes)
2. “Extraordinary Merry Christmas” Featuring Darren Criss (Blaine) and Lea Michele (Rachel)
3. “Santa Baby” Featuring Naya Rivera (Santana)
4. “Christmas Eve With You” Featuring Jayma Mays (Emma) and Matthew Morrison (Will)
5. “Little Drummer Boy” Featuring Kevin McHale (Artie)
6. “River” Featuring Lea Michele (Rachel)
7. “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Featuring Lindsay Pearce (Glee Project) and Alex Newell (Glee Project)
8. “Let It Snow” Featuring Darren Criss (Blaine) and Chris Colfer (Kurt)
9. “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” Featuring Mark Salling (Puck), Cory Monteith (Finn) and Samuel Larsen (Glee Project)
10. “Christmas Wrapping” Featuring Heather Morris (Brittany)
11. “Blue Christmas” Featuring Damian McGinty (Rory, Glee Project)
12. “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Featuring Cory Monteith (Finn), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Lea Michele (Rachel), Chris Colfer (Kurt), Kevin McHale (Artie), Heather Morris (Brittany), Mark Salling (Puck), Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), Naya Rivera (Santana)

They Kissed – Klaine & Britanna (Glee Live 2011 Tour in Dublin)

So my Twitter – Gleek list just exploded with twits saying there were KISSES from Kurt and Blaine + Brittany and Santana from their last concert night in Dublin. I bet I even received it real time :)

So a few tumblr-ing and gleeking, here are some links. If you arent familiar with the Klaine Skit (search for it in YouTube) – this is where the surprise kiss came from :)

Here is a poem from Kurt (he usually just delivers some lines, tonight he delivered a poem): CLICK!

A screencap of the kiss: CLICK!

The vid is still uploading: click here for updates. Here is the Santana + Brittany version.

I am a bit in awe – some of these fans came all the way from other countries and have watched the show from their home state, but flew over to Dublin to witness the last concert night. Worth the checkcity.com cash advances, most definitely!
