American Idol Season 11 Finale

And then they were down to two – Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez!

american idol season 11 finale

It was a tight show – with the two contestants giving it more than their all, definitely in the idol zone. I am partial to Jessica but cannot deny the fact the Phillip is “in it to win it” too, with his complete image set for an album and stardom. Jessica needs a good management team to showcase her blues, talent and voice but still make her look like 16. Pretty Polly suspender tights definitely should not be in her wardrobe yet.

Here’s a recap:
1st round:
JS: I Have Nothing (Whitney Houston)
PP: Stand By Me (Ben King)

2nd round:
JS: The Prayer
PP: Moving Out (Billy Joel)

3rd round: Original Singles
JS: Change Nothing
PP: Home

For me, Phillip took home the night – but Jessica will win. That’s my fearless forecast for ya!

UPDATED:
The finale night got them singing with their idols and in an anti-climactic announcement (after Jessica Sanchez’s historical duet with Jennifer Holliday to the song And I am Telling You) – Phillip Phillips was crowned American Idol. The White Guy With Guitar won again, for the 5th straight season! Some critics say that American Idol should invest on an RME Fireface guitar center since winners play the guitar.

I love Phillip and I am sure to buy his album but you got to agree that Jessica owned the night!

And now they were done to five. My whole family has been rooting for Jessica Sanchez to win (it’s like a done jewelry deal) – but truthfully, every one in the top five can really make an album already – they are all good, even Hollie who has always been at the bottom three. She is emerging as the dark horse of the season!

They covered British music (60s and 80s) and British pop and save for the one billionth standing ovation for Joshua by the judges, it would have been so good (the show):

American Idol Season 11: Rooting for Jessica Sanchez

jessica sanchez

Now the American Idol contestants are down to six.
And just like any other Filipino, we are rooting for Jessica Sanchez.

It has been awhile since we really followed American Idol. We usually just watch the auditions up until the Top 12 then our interest fizzles out. We feel the ones who get to the top are not really that good, just have a solid fan base. It would be more entertaining for us to look and shop for twin oaks hammocks than to stay glued on the TV!

But this season we look forward to watching it every week. I can honestly say I love the six who are left (except Hollie):

American Idol Top 13 Performances (March 10th)

Did you agree with America’s opinion last week of sending Ashthon Jones home? I personally thought she didn’t deserve getting in the wildcard (I wanted Robbie), but the judges saw differently (I maybe needing some roadside assistance for that, come on!). However, at least they were right in not saving her last week.

Here were the perfomances:
1. Lauren Alaina: “Any Man of Mine”
2. Casey Abrams: “With A Little Help From My Friends”
3. Ashthon Jones: “When You Tell Me That You Love Me”
4. Paul McDonald: “Come Pick Me Up”
5. Pia Toscano: “All By Myself”
6. James Durbin: “Maybe I’m Amazed”
7. Haley Reinhart: “Blue”
8. Jacob Lusk: “I Believe I Can Fly”
9. Thia Megia: “Smile”
10. Stefano Langone: “Lately”
11. Karen Rodriguez: “I Could Fall in Love”
12. Scotty McCreery: “The River”
13. Naima Adedapo: “Umbrella”

I personally loved Casey, James, Haley, Thia, Stefano and Naima’s performance but all of them had something missing. My vote for the week was James’ performance. This kid has a future as a rockstar:
