Scandal

I have been reading so many great reviews of this new TV series by Shonda Rhimes. I was only able to watch it this week, and once I started I couldn’t bear to stop watching. It was actually a good thing that the first season is only seven episodes long otherwise I might have really not slept!

The story revolves around former Presidential Aide Olivia Pope, and her team of lawyers who call themselves gladiators. They fix people’s bad choices, in turn preventing them to have a “scandal.” Sounds familiar? Wait, it gets better than having a Criminal Attorney Oakland County. It also touches the White House and Pope’s relationship with the President and the muddy political blackhole that is very White House.

I seriously cannot wait for the second season. They had a very good cliffhanger and I cant wait to see who is really Quinn, is she a Criminal Attorney Oakland County lawyer, an ex-con or (wild guess), an ex of the President of the United States?

Movie: I Don’t Know How She Does It

Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear, Pierce Brosnan, Olivia Munn and Christina Hendricks star in I Don’t Know How She Does It, a comedy from director Douglas McGrath (Emma, Infamous) and producer Donna Gigliotti (The Reader, Let Me In). Based on the critically acclaimed bestseller by Allison Pearson, I Don’t Know How She Does It follows a Boston-based working mother trying desperately to juggle marriage, children, and a high-stress job. — (C) Weinstein

My Thoughts About It:
I can relate – as do most women living in the 21st century. However, the movie is really forgettable.

Movie: The Lucky One

U.S. Marine Sergeant Logan Thibault (Efron) returns from his third tour of duty in Iraq, with the one thing he credits with keeping him alive–a photograph he found of a woman he doesn’t even know. Learning her name is Beth (Schilling) and where she lives, he shows up at her door, and ends up taking a job at her family-run local kennel. Despite her initial mistrust and the complications in her life, a romance develops between them, giving Logan hope that Beth could be much more than his good luck charm. — (C) Warner Bros

What I Thought About It:
To be honest, the movie is as boring as shopping for mens leather briefcase, even with a shirtless Zac Efron on it. While Sparks books speak of true love, this is just one of those books that was better left being a book. I love Sparks novels, don’t get me wrong, but there isn’t much cinematic play and dramatic conflict to even let me be engaged until the very end.

Liane Moriarty: What Alice Forgot

What Alice Forgot

Synopsis:
Remember the woman you used to be …

Alice is twenty-nine. She is whimsical, optimistic and adores sleep, chocolate, her ramshackle new house and her wonderful husband Nick. What’s more, she’s looking forward to the birth of the ‘Sultana’ – her first baby.

But now Alice has slipped and hit her head in her step-aerobics class and everyone’s telling her she’s misplaced the last ten years of her life.

In fact, it would seem that Alice is actually thirty-nine and now she loves schedules, expensive lingerie, caffeine and manicures. She has three children and the honeymoon is well and truly over for her and Nick. In fact, he looks at her like she’s his worst enemy. What’s more, her beloved sister Elisabeth isn’t speaking to her either. And who is this ‘Gina’everyone is so carefully trying not to mention?

Alice isn’t sure that she likes life ten years on. Every photo is another memory she doesn’t have and nothing makes sense. Just how much can happen in a decade? Has she really lost her lovely husband for ever?

My thoughts:
Such a nice read. Not a tearjerker kind, but one that makes you think about marriage really hard. Loved this book!

5. Jumping Over a Golf Cart Fail
If you’ve ever wondered what the ultimate wedgie would look like, this is it. The funny thing is, the guy clears the golf cart with his jump. His shorts were just a little baggy. Fortunately, he’s okay so we don’t have to feel bad about laughing ourselves hoarse over the incident. And don’t worry – insiders say the golf cart made it through the incident okay, too.

4. Cat Pushing a Trolley

The only problem with this video is it’s too short. How they got the cat to do this, and why he likes it so much, is anybody’s guess. This is the only animal video on this list, because even cute animal videos can be overdone. However, without the “awwwww” factor, this is one of the best animal videos out there. 3. The Olympic Banana Torch Runner

This guy has one of the best senses of humor you can imagine. If you think the pageantry of the Olympics is taken perhaps a tiny bit too far, you can see where this guy is coming from. In front of a large crowd gathered to witness the ceremonial Olympic torch as it is carried through the streets of London, one guy gets his 15 minutes of fame (and lots of laughs) with a banana. Notice how many people in the crowd begin to clap and cheer without realizing it’s not the torch. Great use of your leftover lunch if the Olympics happen to be in town.

2. Best Dash-Cam Video Ever
Getting cynical because it seems like people are just horrible creatures? Restore your faith in the human race by watching this must-see video of 2012. The dash-cam captures the proverbial little old lady crossing the busy street, and she’s having quite a bit of trouble. Fortunately, a gentleman (talk about an endangered species) stops his vehicle in the middle of the intersection, blocking traffic while he helps her safely to the curb. If your spirits need uplifting today, watch this viral video.

1. Super Granny Fights Off Six Armed Robbers
Not all grannies in viral videos are helpless victims, as this awesome video proves. This spunky lady fights off six armed robbers as they attempt to break into a business in her neighborhood. Not on her watch! The woman sees the crime in progress, rushes to the scene, attacks the moped-riding hoodlums with her handbag, beats them down and drives them off. A few other passers by eventually help Supergranny and all the suspects were arrested on the spot or shortly after. Who needs Batman?
